There’s a specific kind of panic that sets in when a tour you care about goes on sale. The queue number shows six figures with a spinning wheel of doom. Then, the tickets you had selected sell out from under you right before you check out.
Here’s what most people never find out: credit card presale tickets are often sitting there the whole time, in a separate pool of seats the general public never sees. I know, because that’s exactly how I got Eras Tour tickets.
Concert ticket sales is just one of the many perks credit cards can get you. Who knew that lounge access, travel portals, and concert tickets could all be a benefit of owning the right card? This guide covers every major card issuer offering concert presale access in 2026, where to find your presale code on each card, and what I learned using this method when tickets were nearly impossible to get.
New to Rewards Cards? Here’s Why It Works
The presale is just the front door. The same card that unlocks early tickets is also earning you points on every dollar you spend: groceries, gas, dinner, and the tickets themselves. And with the right card, those points don’t just get you a statement credit. They turn into the trip.
Flexible points cover the travel
Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and Capital One miles are all what the rewards world calls transferable points. That means you can move them to airline and hotel partners. Your tour is in Nashville and you live in Denver? Those points can become the flight and the hotel room three blocks from the arena, so you’re not paying surge rates or driving home at 1 a.m.
Welcome bonuses do the heavy lifting
Many travel rewards cards offer a welcome bonus after you hit a spending requirement in the first few months. A single welcome bonus can easily cover a good portion of your trip. If you know a tour announcement is coming, opening a card several months ahead means the bonus lands right when you need it.
The protections are underrated
Depending on the card, you may get purchase protection, coverage if an event is cancelled and the venue won’t refund you, cell phone protection if your phone gets stolen in a crowd, and no foreign transaction fees if you’re chasing a tour internationally.
Elite status changes the stay
Some cards come with automatic hotel status, which can mean free breakfast, upgrades, or late checkout, which is genuinely useful the morning after a show that ended at midnight.
So the full picture isn’t “I got presale access.” It’s: I got into the presale, earned points buying the tickets, and paid for the flight and hotel with points. That’s the same card doing three jobs.
Keep Things Paid Off
All of this only works if you pay your balance in full every month. Interest charges will erase the value of any rewards program far faster than you can earn them, and no welcome bonus is worth carrying a balance for. Rewards cards are a tool for people who are already paying off their statements. If that’s you, you’re leaving real money on the table by not figuring out how to use one.

How I Used a Capital One Presale to Get Eras Tour Tickets
When Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour tickets went on sale, everyone was fixated on Verified Fan. You had to have a code, figure out your registration window, etc. It was a whole ordeal. The general public didn’t realize Capital One ran a completely separate presale just for cardholders, and I didn’t need a Verified Fan code to get into it.
Here’s exactly what I did:
- I went through Ticketmaster like normal.
- When prompted for a presale code, I entered the first six digits of my eligible Capital One card.
- I selected my seats and paid with that same Capital One card.
That’s it. There was no registration lottery or texted code.
PAY ATTENTION TO THIS PART: Capital One had a separate allotment of tickets set aside for cardholders. These weren’t the same seats everyone else was fighting over. It was a different pool of inventory, which meant I got a chance at tickets during a sale of the hottest tour of the last decade.
Card presales aren’t just “the same tickets, earlier.” Often they’re different tickets entirely, held back from the general sale.
Credit Cards With Concert Presale Access: The 4 Major Issuers
These are the heavy hitters. In most cases, you don’t need a premium annual-fee card. Any card from the issuer usually qualifies.
American Express Presale Tickets
Amex is the biggest player here, largely because it’s the official card of Ticketmaster.
Amex Presale Tickets lets card members buy select seats for select events before the general sale. There’s also a second, separate benefit called Preferred Seating, where venues hold back specific seats exclusively for Amex customers even during the regular sale.
The code trick: For Preferred Seating, your code is the 10-digit customer service phone number printed on the back of your card, entered without hyphens. It surprises people every time.
Amex presales show up on AXS as well, not just Ticketmaster, so check both. You must pay with an Amex card, and prepaid Amex cards don’t count. Browse current offers at Amex Experiences.
Citi Entertainment Presale Tickets
Citi Entertainment is one of the most widely available presale programs out there. It’s open to Citi credit card customers and Citibank debit card customers.
Citi offers a few different buying options: presale tickets, preferred tickets, complimentary tickets, and VIP packages. Presale windows typically run about two to three days, so you’re not just racing the public, you’re racing a clock.
The code trick: The first six digits of your Citi card number. Alternatively (and I’d recommend this), you can link your Citi account directly to your Ticketmaster account so access unlocks automatically. Do this now, not five minutes before tickets are on-sale. Check what’s live at Citi Entertainment.
Chase Cardholder Preferred Tickets
Chase Experiences covers sponsored events and venues nationwide, and includes early ticket offers, preferred seating, pre-event hospitality, and venue lounge access.
On Ticketmaster you’ll see this listed as “Chase Cardholder Preferred Tickets.” Sapphire Reserve holders tend to get the most, including private dinners and VIP access, but base-level Chase cards get in the door too.
Capital One Presale Code and Entertainment Access
This is the strategy that got me my tickets. The Capital One Entertainment portal is more about experiences, packages, and using miles toward events, but beyond that, Capital One increasingly presents entire tours and runs dedicated cardholder presale windows for them.
The code trick: The first six digits of your Capital One card number, and you must check out with that card.
Two eligibility notes: debit cards work, which is unusual as well as useful. But Discover-branded and private label Capital One cards are excluded.
Visa and Mastercard Presale Benefits (These Stack)
The benefits below come from the logo on your card rather than the bank that issued it, which means you may already have both an issuer perk and a network perk on the exact same piece of plastic.
Mastercard Cardholder Presale
Eligible Mastercard credit cardholders can unlock Mastercard Cardholder Presale tickets at select U.S. venues using, you guessed it, the first six digits of the card number.
If you carry a World Elite or World Legend Mastercard, you get an extra tier called Preferred Tickets: a block of seats held back from public sale at select venues and festivals. Mastercard also runs its music program through Priceless, though a good chunk of the Live Nation partnership is Europe and Asia focused. In the U.S., look at venue and festival presales.
Visa Sofar Sounds Presale
Visa’s is narrower but completely free, and nobody uses it.
All Visa U.S. consumer credit cards get a seven-day exclusive presale window for Sofar Sounds events, plus a free ticket with a purchase. Visa Infinite and Visa Signature cardholders get that free ticket on every show; everyone else is capped at two free tickets per year.
Sofar shows are small, intimate, surprise-lineup concerts in unexpected venues, not stadium tours. But a free ticket means date night costs half of what you expected. I’m not going to talk you out of that.
Smaller Concert Presale Programs Worth Knowing
Wells Fargo
Autograph and Autograph Journey cardholders get roughly a week-long exclusive window for “Autograph Card Exclusives” (small, cardholder-only concerts) before access opens to all Wells Fargo credit cardholders. It’s a low profile benefit, but that also means low competition.
Marriott Bonvoy
This one is worth clarifying a bit, because people lump it in with the others and it works differently. Marriott isn’t really a presale-code program. It’s Bonvoy Moments, where you spend points through fixed-price redemptions, live auctions, and occasional one-point offers on concerts, sporting events, and private performances. There are also Chase Marriott Bonvoy cardmember-exclusive experiences. On top of that, Marriott’s AEG partnership covers Coachella, Stagecoach, Crypto.com Arena, and The O2, with member access offered through experience packages.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Capital One presale code?
It’s the first six digits of your Capital One card number, entered on Ticketmaster when prompted for a presale code. You then have to complete the purchase with that same Capital One card. Both credit and debit cards work, but Discover-branded and private label Capital One cards are excluded.
What is the American Express presale code?
For Preferred Seating, it’s the 10-digit customer service phone number printed on the back of your Amex card, entered without hyphens. For Amex Presale Tickets, you generally don’t need a code at all. You just need to be logged in and pay with an eligible Amex.
Do I need a specific credit card to get presale tickets?
Usually not. For Amex, Citi, Chase, and Capital One, most cards from that issuer qualify, including no-annual-fee ones. Premium cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or Amex Platinum unlock additional VIP experiences, but the basic presale access is much broader than people assume.
Can I use a debit card for presale tickets?
Sometimes but not often. Citi allows Citibank debit cards, and Capital One allows its debit cards. Amex presales require a credit card, and prepaid Amex cards do not qualify. So really, holding a credit card is your best bet.
How early do credit card presales start?
It varies by event, but presale windows commonly open 24 to 48 hours before the general on-sale and run for about two to three days. Visa’s Sofar Sounds presale is a longer seven-day window.
Can I stack a credit card presale with a Verified Fan code?
Often, yes. You can register for an artist or fan presale and separately participate in an eligible cardholder presale if both are offered. Think of them as separate chances to purchase, not two codes you combine during one checkout. Each sale has its own timing, eligibility rules, and available inventory. During the Eras Tour on-sale, the Capital One cardholder presale operated independently of the Verified Fan sale.
Are presale tickets cheaper?
Not necessarily. A presale is an access benefit, not a guaranteed discount. Prices are set by the event organizer, and the available inventory may include standard, preferred, VIP, or Platinum tickets. The advantage is getting another opportunity to buy tickets, and potentially securing seats before resale markups. It’s not a promise that every presale ticket will cost less.
Check What’s in Your Wallet
I got tickets to the biggest tour of the decade with six digits off the front of a credit card I already had. Not a platinum card or a special invitation, just a regular Capital One card and a presale window that most people didn’t know existed.
Before the next tour announcement, take five minutes and look at what you’re already carrying. Between your card issuer, the network logo on the front, and the free programs you can stack on top, you may already be holding your next concert ticket.
