If you’re just getting started with points, start with a card from this list, then pair it with my free beginner’s guide.

This month looks a little different.

My top picks are mostly business cards. With elevated offers and higher spend right now (taxes, home projects), they’re hard to beat.

Not ready for business cards? Find  my personal only top picks HERE. Just keep 5/24 in mind.

My #1 pick an eleavted offer on my favorite premium card because I can get up to 2 cents per point in the travel portal, which opens up options you usually can’t book with points like suites, on-property theme park hotels, and even stays with express passes. The boost isn’t on every hotel and it can change, but when it works it’s really good and that’s why I keep its a long term keeper card for me.  And even if you never touch the portal, the welcome offer alone can still cover some amazing trips because of the transfer partners. I’ve got some ideas below on how I’d use the points HERE.

#2 for me is the brand new Capital One Venture Business card. We don’t usually see an offer this strong with such a low annual fee. New cards also tend to be easier to get approved for, and I’m seeing a lot of approvals on this one. Even hitting part of the bonus puts you around ~90k miles total, which is great for a $95 annual fee.

I’m not here to tell you to travel more just because it looks good on Instagram. I’m sharing this because I know how meaningful it is to step away from the chaos of everyday life and actually be together as a family.

Even after years working in the travel industry—as a travel agent and airline employee—I didn’t realize how much you could save with points. I was shocked at what was possible, especially around school breaks when prices are highest.

If I didn’t know, I’m sure a lot of other moms don’t either. You don’t need a luxury budget—you just need someone to show you how to make the points work for you.
