When we first started using points, I remember staring at our balance of 100,000 and wondering: how far can this actually take a family of six?

Also, at the time of this writing there is a VERY good card with a 100,000 point welcome bonus. Hit those elevated offers at the right time, and you can really start off strong in your points and miles journey.

I had seen people use that many points for one first-class flight or two nights at a luxury hotel. But I knew there had to be a better way—especially if I wanted to stretch those points into real family vacations. And the good news? There absolutely is! We’ve used 100k points for a full week of hotel stays, roundtrip flights for four, or two rooms at a resort where my husband and I got our own room. That’s the magic of smart redemptions.

Here’s a list of flexible travel credit cards I recommend that help you earn the kinds of points used in these redemptions.

Resorts Worth Saving Up For

You know I’m all about keeping costs down, but when it comes to anniversary trips or bucket list memory makers, I’ll happily splurge on a property that blows us away—but we do it a lot more often now that we know we can cover it with points. Booking for all of these hotels can be found here.
