My Take

This is the “I fly Delta a lot and I want travel days to be easier” business card. If you’re regularly in airports for work, or you’re a hub flyer who’s buying airport food and finding seats every trip, Delta Sky Club® access (when flying Delta) is the benefit that can change your whole experience.

I don’t recommend this for most people as a first Delta card because the annual fee is high — you want to be sure you’ll actually use the premium perks. But if you’re a frequent Delta flyer who cares about lounge access and Medallion status progress, this is the one that tends to feel worth it.

If you live near a Delta hub and want to see how I think about Delta cards overall (and which order makes sense), I break it down here: Delta Credit Cards Explained: What I’d Do Living at a Hub .

Why Business Owners Love It

  • Delta Sky Club® access (when flying Delta): A calmer place to work, eat, and reset before a flight.
  • Centurion® Lounge access: Complimentary access when you book a Delta flight with the card (terms apply).
  • MQD Headstart + MQD earning: Helps you move toward Medallion status faster.
  • 15% off Delta award flights: Automatically applies when booking with miles.
  • Companion Certificate (each year after renewal): High value if you’ll actually use it (taxes/fees apply; restrictions apply).
  • Doesn’t count toward 5/24: Keeps personal card options open.
Terms apply. Enrollment required for select benefits. Lounge access rules and visit limits can change—check Delta and American Express for current details.
Quick “is this worth it?” check:
If you’ll realistically use a lounge often (work trips, connections, flying with kids) and you care about Medallion progress, this can be a strong fit. If you only fly Delta a couple times a year, I’d usually start lower and upgrade later if you find yourself wishing you had Sky Club access.
