One thing I’ve noticed after helping a lot of people get started with points and miles is that earning the points usually isn’t the hard part. Figuring out what to do with them is.

Someone signs up for a card, earns 100,000 points, and then suddenly there are a hundred different opinions online about the “best” way to use them. Transfer to an airline. Transfer to a hotel. Book through the travel portal. Save them for later.

That’s actually why I put together this list.

My goal isn’t to convince you that there’s one right way to use 100,000 points. It’s to give you ideas! Sometimes all it takes is seeing a few real examples before things start to click.

Some of these redemptions will get you more value than others. Or, you might see a property and NEED to take that luxury trip. Some are practical family vacations. There’e no “right” way to use your points.

Hopefully this list helps you start thinking about the possibilities 100,000 points could get you! And if you need some cards to get you there, check out THIS LIST.

If you’re just getting started with points, definitely check out my Beginner’s Guide to Points & Miles before diving in. It walks you through how to earn, use, and stack points.

Resorts Worth Saving For

You know I’m all about keeping costs down, but when it comes to anniversary trips or bucket list memory makers, I’ll happily splurge on a property that blows us away.

We do it a lot more often now that we know we can cover it with points! Booking for all of these hotels can be found here.

Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa (35k–75k points/night)

Lagoon-style pools, beachfront views, and lush tropical vibes. With 100k points, you can book two nights at lower-demand dates, perfect for a parents-only escape or the start of a longer trip. Check out this post if you want all the details of our last trip here.

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa (25k–35k points/night)

One of the best family resorts in the United States. The water complex alone is worth the trip: four large waterslides including twin racing slides and an inner tube slide, a 500-foot lazy river, a zero-entry kids pool with its own slide, and a grotto waterfall pool in the center of the property. Beyond the pool there’s a private island beach you reach by complimentary boat shuttle, where guests have spotted dolphins on the ride over. Lawn games, fire pits, a putting green, and poolside food service mean you genuinely never have to leave. The resort fee is waived on award stays, which makes the points redemption even better. Cash rates run $500–$900+ per night in season, making this one of the highest-value uses of Hyatt points for families in the entire program.

Hyatt Regency Maui (20k–40k points/night)

The pool complex alone spans half an acre with six pools, a 150-foot lava tube waterslide, multiple waterfalls, an underground grotto bar, a kids’ splash pad with a sandy beach, and a zero-entry family pool. The lobby has a resident colony of African penguins with daily feedings and guided wildlife tours, plus parrots, koi ponds, and tropical birds throughout the property. The Drums of the Pacific Luau runs right on the beachfront several nights a week, which means you can walk back to your room when it’s over. There’s also a rooftop stargazing program for families who want to end the day somewhere magical. The resort is closest to the ocean of any hotel in Maui, the resort fee is waived on award stays, and cash rates regularly exceed $700 per night. One of the best family points redemptions in all of Hawaii.

Hana-Maui Resort (23k–35k points/night)

Sitting at the end of the Road to Hana, this is unlike any other Hyatt property. Built in 1947 with bungalows, tin roofs, and deliberately no TVs, it is designed entirely around disconnecting. The first resort on Maui to see the sunrise, it’s surrounded by tropical rainforest, black sand beaches, waterfalls, and state parks that most visitors only glimpse on a day trip. Two pools, a full spa, yoga with ocean views, cycling, mini golf, bikes, and access to cultural experiences, including local farm tours and surfing. Families love the small town and the proximity to nature. Honest notes: rooms vary significantly in condition as renovation is still ongoing, there is no beachfront access directly on property, and the only restaurant in town closes by 8 pm. This is a property for families who want to truly slow down and experience a side of Hawaii that barely exists anymore.

Dreams Resorts by Hyatt for Family All-Inclusive (12k–35k points/night Cat. A and B)

Hyatt has 24 Dreams Resorts across Mexico and the Caribbean and are one of the most overlooked transfer redemptions out there. Full all-inclusive, family-friendly, kids clubs, multiple pools, and unlimited dining. Most points travelers default to Hyatt Ziva, but Dreams properties offer the same format at lower point costs in many cases. Check availability in Cancun, Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta, and the Dominican Republic.

Andaz Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo (35k–75k points/night)

Set into a hillside above Culebra Bay with three private beach coves, five pools including an infinity edge overlooking the sea, and a property so well integrated into the rainforest that you can barely see the resort from the water. The Nature to Coral Trail connects two beaches via a 25-minute snorkeling route through a coral sanctuary where you’ll spot sea turtles and rays, with iguanas and monkeys on the land portion. A free kids club runs daily, and water slides, a splash pad, pickleball and tennis courts, and an obstacle course playground are all free for guests. Four restaurants, cultural activities celebrating Costa Rican coffee and cooking, and access to the broader Peninsula Papagayo amenities round out a stay that genuinely works for every age in the family. One of the most distinctive Hyatt redemptions in all of Latin America.

Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta (15k–35k points/night per person base)

Hyatt Ziva is a family-focused all-inclusive brand, and Puerto Vallarta is one of the best locations in the portfolio. The resort sits on Las Estacas, a private beach surrounded by cliffs with ocean views from every room. Four pools, a swim-up bar, five restaurants, nightly entertainment, seasonal whale watching, and a KidZ Club for ages 4–12 with cooking classes, bracelet making, and pajama parties keep every age in the family occupied. The all-inclusive format means food, drinks, and activities are covered, which makes the points math especially compelling: you’re not just booking a room, you’re booking a vacation where most of what you’d spend is already included. One important note: Hyatt Ziva uses a separate all-inclusive award chart priced per person, so verify current pricing on Hyatt.com before transferring points.

Park Hyatt Aviara, Carlsbad CA (25k-55k points/night)

AAA Five Diamond resort on 250 acres in Carlsbad that just completed a $60 million renovation. The pool complex has a zero-entry family pool with a two-story double waterslide and a separate adults-only pool with a hot tub and some of the best views on property. There’s poolside food and drink service, fire pits, free sunscreen and water at the pool, and a sandy play area for younger kids. The Miraval Life in Balance Spa is one of only a few Miraval-branded spas attached to a Hyatt property in the world. Five restaurants, an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course, five tennis courts, four pickleball courts, and a free shuttle to the racquet club round out the on-property experience. Close to LEGOLAND California and the San Diego Zoo. One of my favorite points properties we’ve ever stayed at.

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress (15k–35k points/night)

Minutes from Walt Disney World, the best-kept secret in Orlando for families who want a full resort experience without Disney resort prices. The pool complex is stunning: three connected pools with 12 waterfalls, hidden grottoes kids can explore and play hide and seek through, a waterslide, two hot tubs, and a splash pad. Beyond the pools there’s a private lake with kayaks, canoes, sailboats, paddleboards, paddle boats, and hydro-bikes. Mini golf, a climbing wall, free bicycles, nature trails, a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, and 12 tennis courts fill out the rest. A free shuttle runs to Walt Disney World, which is minutes away, so you can do the parks during the day and come back to a real resort at night instead of a theme park hotel. One of the best-value Hyatt redemptions in Florida, and a property that consistently over-delivers for families at every age.

Hyatt Regency Scottsdale at Gainey Ranch (20k–40k points/night)

One of the best family resort pools in the country. The 2.5-acre water playground has 10 pools, a sandy swim beach, a 30-foot three-story waterslide, water volleyball and basketball, 20 fountains, 45 waterfalls, a shaded hot tub, and an adults-only pool, all in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. The only thing more unexpected than the pool is the gondola: guests can glide along the resort’s waterways aboard authentic Italian gondolas with classically trained singing gondoliers. Camp Hyatt runs kids programs with games, crafts, and cultural activities. Beyond the water there’s a rock climbing wall, giant lawn games, complimentary bike rentals, live nightly entertainment, a Himalayan Salt Room spa, 27 holes of championship golf at Gainey Ranch Golf Club, and easy access to hiking in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. The resort fee is waived on award stays. One of the most family-packed Hyatt properties in the Southwest.

Alila Mayakoba, Riviera Maya (20k–40k points/night)

Opened February 2026 as the first Alila in Latin America and the Caribbean, inside the exclusive Mayakoba community on the Riviera Maya. Sixty acres of Caribbean beachfront, mangrove jungle, and living lagoon ecosystem give it a feeling most Riviera Maya resorts can’t manufacture. The lagoon eco-boat tours are a standout: an electric boat winds through waterways where you spot turtles, toucans, and herons, with breakfast delivered on board. Cenote access, complimentary bikes, beach club, and cultural programming rooted in Mayan traditions round out the experience. Nearly 40 percent of inventory is suites, with beach-area rooms being the family-friendly sweet spot. As a brand new Alila in a premier location, points pricing is likely to climb. This is one to book sooner rather than later.

Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino (15k–35k points/night)

The only upscale resort sitting directly on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe. It’s amazing in every season. In winter, Diamond Peak Ski Resort is a five-minute free shuttle ride away, gear rentals are available on property, and the year-round heated lagoon pool at 90 degrees feels amazing when the air is below freezing. In summer, the property has what is reportedly the largest private hotel beach on Lake Tahoe, with shuttle access to two additional private beaches, plus kayaking, paddleboards, boat tours, and a three-mile bike path to Sand Harbor State Park. The in-house Tahoe Adventures Team runs daily guided hikes, archery, hatchet throwing, and nature activities every day, making it one of the most activity-rich hotel programs in the Sierra. Just refreshed in early 2026, fire pits, mountain views, spacious rooms, and complimentary s’mores give you a property that consistently over-delivers for families who love the outdoors.

Alila Marea Beach Resort Encinitas (25k-55k points/night)

Built on a sandstone bluff at the end of a road where the land runs out and the Pacific Ocean begins, this is one of the most dramatically situated hotels in Southern California. Every room faces either the ocean or the Batiquitos Lagoon. There are floor-to-ceiling windows to really showcase the view, and 16 rooms have private outdoor fire pits. The infinity pool overlooks the water, Spa Alila does ocean-inspired treatments, and complimentary e-bikes let you cruise into the nearby beach towns of Leucadia and Encinitas. Surf lessons, yoga, hiking around the lagoon, and some of the most consistent surf breaks in San Diego County are all within walking distance. One important note for families: this is an adult-focused property (18+), though children are welcome in the restaurants. It’s best suited for a couples escape, a milestone trip, or parents traveling without kids.

Park Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa (35k–75k points/night)

Fifty-one villas in the southern Maldives, with one of the most biodiverse reefs in the entire country. Overwater villas have direct access to the ocean, where guests regularly spot reef sharks, sea turtles, rays, and hundreds of species of fish. The coral is healthy and intact in a way that is increasingly rare. The service is extraordinarily personal with staff seeming to know what you need before you do. Cash rates run $900–$2,100 per night depending on villa type and season, which makes the points redemption one of the most dramatic in the entire Hyatt portfolio. Honest note for families: this one is best suited for couples, honeymooners, or parents traveling without kids. It is remote, quiet, and intimate by design. But if a milestone trip to the Maldives is on your list, this is where you spend your points.

Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico (12k–25k points/night)

This is one of the most scenically positioned resorts in the entire Caribbean. No passport required for US families, and the location gives you the best of both worlds: a secluded, quiet resort setting with swimmable beach waters on one side and the only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest system 15 minutes away on the other. Three lagoon-style pools including a swim-up bar, a Tom Kite-designed 18-hole golf course, kayaking, snorkeling, tennis, a full Rainforest Spa, and four restaurants keep the whole family occupied on property. Rooms start at a generous 520 square feet, and villas run up to 1,075 square feet with ocean views and sofa beds for families who need the space. Electric golf carts shuttle guests around the beautifully landscaped grounds. Old San Juan is about an hour away for a day trip. This is the kind of property that earns repeat visits.

Grand Hyatt Vail (25k–55k points/night)

Ski-in ski-out access in Vail with gondola access right from the hotel, hot tubs, heated pools, and the Gore Range as your backdrop. Vail hotel rooms in cash during ski season are some of the most expensive in the country, which is exactly what makes this one of the highest-value redemptions in the entire Hyatt program. Summer works too because Vail is a completely underrated warm-weather destination with mountain biking, hiking, and the outdoor concert series.

Carmel Valley Ranch, Curio Collection by Hyatt (25k–55k points/night)

An Unbound Collection by Hyatt resort spanning 500 acres in California wine country, about 20 minutes from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. What sets it apart is the sheer range of on-property experiences: an on-site farm and creamery, a working vineyard, beekeeping workshops, archery, mountain biking, guided nature hikes, art classes, a Pete Dye-designed golf course, three pools, eight tennis courts, and a full spa. Bath products are made with lavender grown on the property. A complimentary children’s activity center runs evenings during summer and most weekends for ages 5–14, giving parents a real shot at an adults-only dinner. Suites have separate bedrooms and living rooms that work well for families of four. Pebble Beach, Carmel-by-the-Sea, and Big Sur are all within easy reach. One of the most activity-rich Hyatt properties on the West Coast.

Andaz Prague (20k–40k points/night)

Prague is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and almost nobody puts it on their points travel list. The Andaz sits right in the old town with art-filled rooms, a rooftop bar, and some of the best architecture you will ever see right outside the front door. Point costs are low because it is not a typical tourist hotspot for American travelers, which is exactly why it is such a good deal. Pairs beautifully with a Flying Blue redemption on Air France.

Alila Ventana Big Sur (35k–75k points/night)

The most dramatic setting of any Hyatt property in the continental United States. Fifty-four rooms and suites perched on 160 acres above the Pacific, tucked into a redwood forest on one of the most breathtaking stretches of coastline in the world. The rate is all-inclusive: meals at Sur House, drinks, in-room snacks, valet, and complimentary experiences including falconry, archery, hatchet throwing, guided hikes, soapmaking, and yoga are all covered. Multiple pools and hot tubs, a full spa, and a vinyl library round out the experience. Cash rates run $3,000+ per night, making the points redemption one of the most dramatic in the Hyatt portfolio. One critical note: this is a strictly adults-only property. It’s best suited for a milestone anniversary, a solo escape, or parents traveling without kids. For that, it is one of the most extraordinary places you can spend Hyatt points anywhere in the world.

Flight Redemptions That Make Sense for Families

When airfare spikes during school breaks and jet fuel prices surging prices, points redemptions become the hero.

Southwest Airlines

With 100k points and the Companion Pass, you could cover 4–6 roundtrips for your family depending on your destination and timing. You can find flights to Hawaii from 12k–20k+ points one-way from the west coast, though pricing varies with demand and cash fares.

JetBlue

Fly East Coast to the Caribbean with 4–5 roundtrip tickets depending on transfer ratios and route pricing.

United Airlines

Domestic Saver awards start as low as 5k miles one-way on shorter routes, with most mid-range routes running in the 12k–15k range. United uses dynamic pricing, so flexibility is key. The Excursionist Perk gives you a free stopover on international itineraries for extra value.

Air France/KLM Flying Blue

The Flying Blue monthly Promo Rewards sales are one of the best in the points world. Business class to Europe can drop to as low as 40k–50k miles one-way during a sale. Even at standard pricing, economy roundtrip to Europe for a couple lands well within the 100k range. Flying Blue also covers a huge network of destinations, so this isn’t just for Europe. Caribbean, Africa, and beyond are all on the table.

British Airways

Short flights like NYC to Toronto or Miami to the Bahamas start at just 7.5k points one way. The taxes and fees can skew on the high side, but sometimes it’s worth it when the points are so low!

Air Canada Aeroplan

100k points can get you to Europe roundtrip, sometimes with a stopover included.

Emirates

Their First Class product is one of the most legendary in the world with private suites, a shower on board, and a bar you can actually walk up to. That said, Emirates has become a much harder redemption to pull off in 2025–2026: most major transfer partners have reduced their ratios or dropped Emirates entirely, with Bilt Rewards now the only program transferring at 1:1. If you have Bilt points, elite status, or a large existing Skywards balance, it’s still a bucket-list redemption.

Iberia

Boston or NYC to Madrid for 40,500 Avios one-way off-peak in business class. This is up from the old 34k sweet spot after a 2025 award chart update. A family of three would now need approximately 121,500 Avios off-peak, putting it just over the 100k mark, but still one of the best-value transatlantic business class options out there.

Virgin Atlantic

Domestic Delta flights from 7.5k one-way for short hops under 500 miles (think Atlanta to Nashville or similar), with mid-range routes running closer to 12.5k–15k one-way. Europe in Delta One for 50k–67.5k one-way when space is available. However, taxes can be high, so keep that in mind when booking.

Singapore Airlines

Fly to Hawaii on United from 20.5k one-way or find great value on flights to Asia.

Use British Airways Avios to Book Qatar Airways Qsuites

This one requires a little setup but it is worth knowing about. You can transfer to British Airways, then move Avios over to Qatar Airways Privilege Club at a 1:1 ratio. From there you can book Qatar’s Qsuites business class, which is widely considered the best business class product in the world. Business class to the Middle East or Asia in Qsuites for around 70k to 85k points one-way is one of the most jaw-dropping redemptions available.

Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer to Book United Flights to Hawaii (17,500 miles one-way)

One of the best uses of transferring points to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles is booking United-operated flights to Hawaii. At 17,500 miles one-way, a couple can fly roundtrip to Hawaii for 70k points and have 30k left over for hotels. It is a simple and practical redemption that a lot of people overlook.

Use Air Canada Aeroplan to Book Lufthansa First Class (90k one-way)

If you transfer to Air Canada Aeroplan, one of the most aspirational things you can do with those points is book Lufthansa First Class into Frankfurt. Aeroplan prices this at 90k one-way from the East Coast, which uses almost your entire 100k balance but gets you access to the Lufthansa First Class Terminal in Frankfurt, which has its own spa, restaurant, and private boarding. It is one of the most talked-about luxury travel experiences in the world.

Redemptions That Stretch Every Last Point

The practical, often-overlooked redemptions are the ones that make real-life trips so much easier.

Grand Hyatt Bali (8k–20k points/night)

Consistently recognized as one of the best family resorts in Asia. Spread across 40 acres of beachfront in Nusa Dua, the property has five pools. There’s a Garden River Pool built around natural rock formations with two water slides and ledges kids can jump from, a two-level Balinese feature pool with cascading waterfalls, and a dedicated adults-only pool when parents need a break. The Oceania Kids Club runs daily from 9 am to 8 pm for ages 3 to 12 with Balinese mask-making, coconut leaf crafts, cooking classes, kite building, scavenger hunts, and two resident bunnies kids can feed. The beach is one of the longest private stretches in Nusa Dua, rice terraces and temples are a short drive away, and the resort sits right next to Bali Collection for local food and shopping. With 636 rooms, this is one of the most comprehensively family-friendly Hyatt properties in the world.

Hyatt Place New York City/Times Square (15k–35k points/night)

The hotel sits a few blocks from Times Square itself, putting Broadway theaters, the subway, and the heart of Midtown all within walking distance. Rooms come with a sofa sleeper, which matters in a city where space is at a premium, and the free breakfast helps offset how expensive eating out in Manhattan can get. From here, families can walk to Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center, the Museum of Modern Art, and Central Park, or hop a quick subway ride down to the Empire State Building or up to the American Museum of Natural History. At 15k–30k points per night, 100k points covers roughly 3–6 nights depending on season, which is exactly the kind of redemption that makes a NYC family trip feel affordable.

Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort near Austin (21k–29k points/night)

Most people think of Lost Pines as a business conference hotel, but it is genuinely one of the best family resort stays in the Hyatt portfolio and almost nobody talks about it. The hotel is the destination here. There is a full waterpark on property, a lazy river, guided nature hikes, a ropes course, and fire pits along the river at night. It is a 25-minute drive from Austin airport and pairs perfectly with Southwest flights if you have the Companion Pass.

Hyatt Place Moab (15k-35k points/night)

The hotel is built right up against the red rock and so close to Arches National Park. Free breakfast, a spacious outdoor pool with free cabanas, a hot tub, free parking, and Tesla Superchargers on site make it a genuinely comfortable. From here, you can also reach Canyonlands National Park in about 30 minutes, with Colorado River rafting and Jeep tours through the canyon country. The rooms are standard Hyatt Place with king or queen beds plus a sofa sleeper, which works well for families. Honest note: reviews are more consistent during the off-season when crowds are lower and the price-to-value ratio is at its best. Up to 7 nights for 100k points at lower tier pricing, making it one of the best road trip basecamp redemptions in the West.

Hyatt Place St. George, Utah (3k–9k points/night)

The go-to Hyatt basecamp for one of the most underrated family road trip destinations in the American West. St. George puts you about an hour from Zion National Park, close to Bryce Canyon, Snow Canyon State Park, Cedar Breaks National Monument, and the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site where kids can see actual dinosaur footprints. The hotel itself is clean, modern, and well-reviewed with free breakfast every morning, free parking, a pool and hot tub, and spacious rooms with a sofa sleeper that work well for bigger families. Ask for a mountain view room. The low points cost means you can stretch 100k points across multiple nights and barely make a dent in your balance, leaving plenty of points for the rest of the trip. For Utah national park families, this is one of the best-value Hyatt redemptions in the entire program.

Hyatt House Orlando/International Drive (12k–20k points/night)

This Hyatt has fully equipped kitchens in every room, free breakfast every morning, and apartment-style suites spacious enough for families. The kitchen alone changes the math on an Orlando trip, cutting down on the meal costs that can double your vacation budget. Free shuttle service runs to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and SeaWorld, which means no parking fees and no coordinating rides at the end of an exhausting park day. The property is modern and well-reviewed, with a pool, outdoor terrace with fire pit, and a bar for the adults when the kids are finally asleep. International Drive puts you in the middle of everything Orlando, with Disney World, Universal, and SeaWorld all within easy reach. For a multi-night family stay where you want more room to spread out and a built-in breakfast every morning, this is one of the smartest Hyatt redemptions in the Orlando area.

Hyatt Place Fort Worth Historic Stockyards (8k–20k points/night)

This hotel is one of the most uniquely fun family destinations in the country. The Fort Worth Stockyards has a real cattle drive twice a day, weekly rodeos at Cowtown Coliseum, Billy Bob’s Texas steps away, and some of the best barbecue you’ll ever eat. Free breakfast, spacious suites, and zero need for a rental car to have a full day. Cash rates spike hard on event weekends, which makes this one of the better points plays in Texas.

Hyatt Place Panama City Beach (17k–23k/night)

A beachfront Hyatt Place sitting directly on the Gulf of Mexico with emerald-green water and white sand beaches. The rooms sleep up to six with gulf-view balconies, and the property has a heated outdoor pool, a lazy river that is a hit with younger kids, a hot tub, and a beach bar. Two complimentary lounge chairs and an umbrella on the beach are set up for you every morning. Free breakfast is included, and Pier Park, one of the best open-air shopping and dining destinations on the Gulf Coast, is a short walk away. One practical note: parking is not included and runs about $26 per day, so factor that in. Cash rates regularly exceed $300 per night, which makes the points redemption especially strong here. One of the best-reviewed beachfront Hyatt properties in the Southeast and a near-perfect setup for a family beach trip.

Story Hotel Signalfabriken, Stockholm (3k–9k/night)

A converted industrial building turned boutique JdV by Hyatt property in Sundbyberg, with a direct train to central Stockholm right outside the door. The vibe is cool and eclectic with funky art and moody lighting. Rooms are on the smaller side and the family loft suites have a tight spiral staircase, so this one works better for families with older kids. But as a base for exploring one of the most beautiful cities in Scandinavia at barely any points cost, it’s one of the best low-cost Hyatt redemptions in all of Europe.

Hyatt Place Kyoto (9k–21k/night)

Widely considered the nicest Hyatt Place in the world. The hotel sits directly above a subway station in the heart of Kyoto, steps from Nijo Castle and Nishiki Market, with easy access to every major temple, bamboo grove, and torii gate on your list. Rooms are modern, spotlessly clean, and come with pajamas and slippers, because this is Japan. One heads-up for bigger families: max occupancy per room is 2–3 people, so larger groups will need two rooms. It’s one of the best Hyatt redemptions in all of Asia.

Il Tornabuoni, Florence (25k–55k/night)

A 13th-century palazzo on Florence’s most iconic shopping street, steps from the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, and the Duomo. This is an Unbound Collection by Hyatt property, meaning it’s a luxury boutique with real character. Cash rates run $400–$700+ per night, which makes a 2–3 night points stay here one of the highest-value redemptions on this entire list. If you’re planning a family trip to Italy and want one splurge that makes everyone feel like they’re really in Florence, this is it.

Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa (12k–24k/night)

Tucked into 550 acres on the Santa Ana Pueblo land between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, Tamaya is one of those resorts that genuinely surprises people. Three outdoor pools, horseback riding on pueblo land, three restaurants, a full spa, and Sandia Mountain views in every direction. The property is steeped in Native American history and culture in a way that makes it genuinely educational for kids, not just pretty to look at. It’s also perfectly positioned as a base for day trips to both Albuquerque and Santa Fe, which makes it one of the most strategic family resort picks in the Southwest. Certificate eligible, and cash rates run $289+ per night, making points a very smart play here.

Hyatt Vacation Club at Piñon Pointe, Sedona (12k–18k points/night)

Full kitchens, two-bedroom suites, and unobstructed views of the red rocks from your private patio. Sedona is one of those places that genuinely changes something in you when you see it in person. The property is walking distance to shops and restaurants and sits right at the base of some of the most beautiful hiking in the country. The full kitchen means you can keep food costs low while spending the rest of your budget on experiences.

3 nights + car rental with Capital One Travel

With Capital One Travel’s straightforward 1-cent-per-mile redemption, your 100k miles split nicely into a real getaway. Put 75,000 miles ($750) toward 3 nights at a solid hotel, plenty for a mid-range property in most destinations, or a nice boost toward something nicer. Then use the remaining 25,000 miles ($250) to cover a few days of a rental car, letting your family road-trip to nearby attractions, beaches, or national parks without worrying about transportation costs. No transfer partners, no award charts, no blackout dates to navigate, just book directly on the portal and the charges get erased. It’s the kind of redemption that makes the math easy to explain to anyone considering signing up: a hotel stay plus a car, paid for entirely with points you already earned.

Hyatt Centric Guatemala City (12k–25k/night)

Guatemala is one of the most underrated family destinations in Central America. The hotel sits in Zona 10, Guatemala City’s most walkable and restaurant-dense neighborhood, with the rooms and decor woven through with Guatemalan textiles and local art that give it originality. The rooftop infinity pool looks out over the city and toward the surrounding volcanoes. From here, the day trip possibilities are awesome: Lake Atitlán is one of the most stunning lakes in the world, Antigua’s colonial streets and colorful markets are about 45 minutes away, and volcano hikes and zip lines fill out an itinerary that active kids and teens will be excited about. At 12k–25k points per night it’s one of the most affordable Central American redemptions in the Hyatt program, and one of the least obvious picks on this list in the best possible way.

Wyndham Rewards for Road Trip Stops (7.5k–30k points/night)

This program uses simple fixed pricing with no surprises. If you are doing a long road trip and need a clean room in a smaller city where Hyatt does not have a property, Wyndham fills the gaps perfectly. A full week of road trip stops could run you 50k to 75k total, which is a very reasonable price for a cross-country family drive.

Hotel Figueroa Los Angeles, Unbound Collection by Hyatt (17k–23k points/night)

This is a 1927 Spanish Colonial gem in downtown LA that most points travelers have never heard of. It was originally built as a women-only hotel and the design still feels completely original and full of character. The pool courtyard feels like it belongs in another era. It sits near Crypto.com Arena and the convention center, which makes it a great base for a Los Angeles family trip. At this point cost it is one of the best city hotel values in the Hyatt portfolio.

Book a Park Hyatt Anywhere in the World (12k–75k points/night)

Park Hyatt properties sit in Paris, Tokyo, Vienna, Sydney, New York, Milan, and dozens of other cities. Two solid nights at any Park Hyatt runs 50k to 80k points, leaving you 20k to 50k for flights. I cannot think of a better use of a single welcome bonus than giving your family two nights in a hotel that would otherwise cost $800 to $1,500 per night in cash. Pick a city, find the Park Hyatt, and go!

more about me

I’m a former travel agent and airline employee turned points and miles enthusiast, here to help families travel more—for way less. With four kids of my own, I know how hard (and pricey!) it can be to plan a trip that actually works. That’s where points come in.

We’ve used them to visit 24 countries (Hawaii’s still my favorite), and I love showing other families how to do the same. On this site, you’ll find simple guides, smart tips, and one-on-one help if you want it. Whether you're just starting or ready to dive deeper, I'm here to make it easier—and more fun.

Let’s start checking off that bucket list.

Meet Kristin.
