Why Premium Credit Cards are a Game-Changer
Once you’ve dipped your toes into the points and miles world and realize all the benefits you’ve been missing out on, you realize that premium credit cards can be a huge benefit. From luxury travel perks to superior earning potential—once you have one, they can be hard to let go of. These cards come with higher annual fees, but the value they provide can far outweigh the cost. Here’s why these are my favorite premium cards:
The Platinum Card® from American Express
The Platinum Card® from American Express is the gold standard for premium travel cards. My favorite card for any travel by myself or with my husband, it offers more lounge access and perks than most other cards out there. With the Platinum Card, you can access over 1,400 lounges worldwide through the Global Lounge Collection, including the exclusive Centurion Lounges, which are known for their top-notch amenities.
You also get entry to Delta Sky Clubs when flying Delta, and Priority Pass™ Select membership, giving you even more options to relax before your flight. On top of all that, the card comes with a $200 airline fee credit each year, which can cover things like checked bags and in-flight snacks, and a $200 hotel credit for stays booked through Fine Hotels + Resorts or The Hotel Collection (requires a minimum 2-night stay). Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card
The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is my favorite card for family lounge access. It offers 2X miles on all purchases and 10X miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. The card also provides up to $300 in statement credits annually for bookings through Capital One Travel and unlimited access to Capital One Lounges and over 1,300 Priority Pass™ lounges worldwide.
Chase Sapphire Reserve®
The Chase Sapphire Reserve® is a strong contender for me as well. Offering 3X points on travel (after the first $300 spent on travel purchases annually) and dining, and 1X points on all other purchases. Here’s where it is really enticing though—points are worth 50% more when redeemed through the Chase Travel portal. This can be valuable on the hard-to-get hotels and destinations that don’t have an option to pay with points. The card also includes Priority Pass™ Select membership for airport lounge access and a $300 annual travel credit.
